Something changed in the rhythm of a Buckingham summer this year, and it happened without much fanfare in the township itself. USA TODAY named Peddler's Village the #1 shopping center in America for 2026, topping the national list after finishing #1 on the East Coast and top three in the country last year. If you live off Durham, York, or Forest Grove, that ranking is a traffic forecast more than a bragging point. The visitors are coming. The question is what a resident does with the next ten weekends now that the village on your doorstep is the most-searched shopping destination in the country.
The Thesis, Stated Plainly
The best summer in Buckingham this year belongs to the people who already know the back roads. Time the village, then use the rest of the township as the reward.
Everything below is a way of acting on that idea.
Time the Village, Do Not Fight It
From now through Labor Day, the anchor draw is a free sand sculpture display. All summer long, guests can experience an epic coast-to-coast American adventure right in Bucks County during Sights in Sand: An American Road Trip, a village-wide display of magnificent sand sculptures celebrating America's 250th birthday, with master sand sculptors recreating natural wonders, national landmarks, and triumphs of human achievement across five major regions of the country. The free display runs June 1 through August 31, 2026. The sculptures are created by two world-renowned master sand-sculpting teams.
Two things follow from this that a first-time visitor would not know. First, the sculptures are free and outdoor, which means they draw families in bursts around lunch and again late afternoon. Second, the village restaurants have leaned into the theme. In between sightseeing, the Village restaurants are serving regional specialties: Northeast dishes at Cock 'n Bull, Southeast at Hart's Tavern, Midwest at Peddler's Pub, Southwest at Buttonwood Grill, and West Coast at Earl's New American. A resident's move is a Tuesday or Wednesday walk-through at opening, coffee at the Painted Pony Cafe, and no reservation stress at all.
The one weekend to plan around is the first weekend of August. The annual Peach Festival lands on Sunday, August 2 at Peddler's Village, with peach dishes served at the village restaurants and outdoor food tents, live entertainment, summer garden strolls, and the sixty-plus specialty shops. That is the day to be somewhere else in the township by mid-morning.
The Somewhere-Else, Ranked
Buckingham has two working vineyards inside its borders, and they are not interchangeable. One is quiet and slow. The other is a wine slushie institution.

The Wycombe story has a detail worth carrying around at a dinner party. The winery has been family-owned since 1925, originally formed to support a family pork business delivering meat products to country stores throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey; in 1965 the land was used to produce sod, creating a unique soil make-up for an eastern vineyard, and in 1999 the first test planting of vines was completed. Today they have ten acres of vines. If the vine rows were laid end to end, it would be a six-mile walk to inspect all the vines. That is the sort of number that reframes a place you have driven past a hundred times.
The Farm-Stand Calendar, Not the Farm-Stand Aesthetic
Every summer piece about Bucks County waxes on about the region's farms. The residents-only version is more useful, which is a calendar.
- Late May through mid-June. Strawberries at None Such Farm Market, 4458 York Road, roughly a quarter mile south of Route 413. None Such is known for its fresh red fruits, so pick strawberries beginning in late May and ending in mid-June, and plan to eat them up fast because they sell quickly.
- June onward. Peaches, blackberries, and stone fruit start rolling into the region's u-pick farms, and the None Such market carries produce, its own farm-raised beef, and, fresh baked pies, breads, sandwiches, maple syrup, and wine from Buckingham Valley Vineyards, all under one roof.
- Mid-July. Sweet corn arrives at self-serve stands across the county, with local growers typically running Our Own Sweet Corn available from mid-July until early October.
- Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Blue Moon Acres in Buckingham sells microgreens grown in Buckingham and vegetables from their Pennington farm on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm.
The point of listing this is not the produce. It is the routing. A Saturday that starts with strawberries or corn at None Such on York, moves to a tasting at Wycombe off Forest Grove, and ends with dinner in a Buckingham stone building is a full day without crossing paths with a single sand-sculpture line.
Dinner in a Building Older Than the Township's Zoning Code
The village restaurants are the visitor answer. The resident answer for a summer Saturday is Baci Ristorante & Heart of Oak Pub on Bogarts Tavern Road. Baci was established in 1997, but the history of the building dates back to 1709; it is one of the oldest buildings in Buckingham, with old stone walls and wood beams throughout. The downstairs pub reads casual and the upstairs dining room reads occasion, which is a useful combination when you want one address to cover two moods across a summer.

That is a working weekend agenda already assembled inside a five-mile radius.
What the National Ranking Actually Means for You
A #1 designation from a national outlet functions like a permit change. It does not alter the streets. It alters who is on them. Peak weekend saturation at the village will run through the sand sculpture window and again for the Scarecrow and Apple festivals in fall. For a Buckingham household, the practical read is this. Restaurant reservations at Cock 'n Bull, Hart's Tavern, and Earl's New American will book earlier than in prior summers. The Street Road cut-through past the village will move slower on Saturdays between eleven and three. Parking at None Such on a Saturday morning is still easy. Parking at Wycombe on a weekday afternoon is still easy. The village calendar is public and specific enough that you can plan around it rather than into it.
The 65 unique shops and six unique restaurants on 42 acres of landscaped gardens and brick pathways located between Doylestown and New Hope are not going anywhere. Neither is the quieter Buckingham on the other side of Route 263. This summer, the trick is knowing which one you want on any given morning, and giving yourself a real answer.
